Jim Plante - Globally Recognized Pioneer of Advanced Genetic Testing

              

Background

Jim Plante is the Founder, Chairman of Board and the CEO of Pathway Genomics; a global clinical laboratory based San Diego. He founded the company in 2008 after his father passed away from polycystic kidney disease. His aim was to provide genetic testing and offer preventative measures in the health sector. He began working for his father’s medical technology company while very young, and that is where he developed interests in health and technology. He joined Southern Illinois University where he studied a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

Entrepreneurship

Pathway Genomics Corporation teamed up with IBM Watson in their desire to deliver innovative healthcare solutions. They created a health app that merged cognitive computing and deep learning with genetics and medicine. Creation of the app aimed at empowering physicians and patients to in care of their health while giving consumers personalized information about their well- being. The company’s services cover some conditions including; response to drugs and treatment, nutrition and exercise response, genetically inherited diseases, mental and cardiac health as well as cancer risks.

Recognition and success

In 2015, Jim Plante was appointed also appointed to the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Health and Science Products (ITAC3). His duties will be to offer technical advice and information on trade barriers, contribute in the trade agreements and work towards implementing the existing ones.Jim Plante also founded four companies in the technology, manufacturing, and biotechnology sector. Additionally, he launched 12 products lines and services in the automotive, wireless and service industries. Therefore, it is quite clear that Plante has gained a lot of knowledge in different professionals and has major contributions to the US economy.
